NC State University Senior Collection
-THE RISE AND FALL OF THE ROSE-
The Rise and Fall of the Rose is a luxury women’s wear collection inspired by the beautiful but ephemeral rose. The collection explores the relationship between timelessness and alteration by reflecting upon the visual transitions a rose goes through during its lifetime. Simple silhouettes are reinterpreted with artful details of embroidered roses, delicate ruffles, and digitally printed floral motifs to create a collection of garments that are both elegant and wearable. The collection begins with a simple ivory dress. A soft blush tone emerges and the silhouettes begin to expand, suggestive of a blossoming rose. The garments then shift to darker tones and become asymmetrical representing the rose’s final transition. I believe that beauty can be found at any stage of life.
-Please note that this collection was created with a combination of natural and synthetic fabrics. Moving forward I would I would like to focus my material choice on natural based fibers that are more sustainable to the environment.
